With the arrival of Father Don to our parish, came the "Perogy Supper": an all-you-can-eat, no advance ticket sales, never been done here before, feast. Both our June and October 2008 suppers were huge successes. Fortunately although we were new to the execution of such a supper, Father Don was not. He brought his Perogy-experts, Judy and Darlene, to guide us through the event. Judy and Darlene gave us the confidence that maybe we could pull this off. Sure enough, it was better than we could have imagined. In October we launched out on our own. We had a "perogy-bee" early in the month with 24 people attending. We made 4,300 perogies in under 4 hours. Thanks to the folks who prepared the day before everything went smooth on perogy-making day. Our October supper brought even more people through our doors. Community building is the perk we enjoy most. We look forward to more suppers in 2009.
