St George's Ukrainian Catholic Church Celebrates 100 Years

Our sister parish, St. George's at Manly, celebrated 100 years on June 14, 2009. Bishop David Motiuk and Father Joe Tyrkalo celebrated liturgy.

On May 17th, members of the parish, as well as family and friends, gathered to honor family members who have passed away and celebrate a day with family. This year we also celebrated the 25th Anniversary of Father Joe Ostopowich becoming a priest. The weather held out for us and the day was warm and beautiful. Daryl Ronsky took many beautiful photographs for us to remember the day.

St. Nicholas Visits Carvel

On December 21, 2008, St. Nicholas visited our parish Christmas party bringing goodies for each child as well as the ladies. Each man also received a small wheat ornament. We started the meal with the youth (and some adults) singing Boh Predvichny. After a very yummy and bountiful potluck meal, St. Nicholas appeared. We finished the party with singing Christmas carols by beautiful voices. 

St. Nicholas is the giving saint. We decided to honor him by collecting needed items for the Stony Plain Youth Centre and gift cards for a single mom in need.
